This blog is about part 1 of my 20,000+ mile car-camping trip with my dogs from DC to Alaska via Labrador. Part 1, in 2011, was to the end of the road in northeastern North America in Labrador and then on to Quebec and Ontario, 7609 miles. Part 2, which took place in 2012, picked up where Part 1 left off in Ontario and was supposed to extend to Banff and Jasper National Parks in the Canadian Rockies, but Leben, my male German shepherd, became paralyzed on the trip so we cut it short. We will finish the journey in 2013, when we will return to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska.

(Friday, August 5) - Looks like tomorrow

The vet just gave me her report about Erde.  The bottom line is that her situation is manageable.  Unless the cyst or whatever it is gets worst, it can stay for another couple of months till I return. If it gets worse, I will have to return or get it removed en route.  (At four different times, we will be five days away from the neartest vet.) So if all goes well, we will be off tomorrow, Saturday.  I used up all my contingency time for this first leg before the trip, but that's ok.  And we won't have time to smell the flowers in Labrador.  But, look, I love Labrador, but having been there this time in 2002, I can only recall the black flies and not flowers.

Another snag deveoped last night when belatedly AT&T informed me that I had to own the iPad for 90 days before they allowed international access. (I just ought it two weeks ago.)  But I got them to give me an exception today. Now I have to open the box and learn how to use it in the next two hours.
